    Walla Walla, Washington provides residents and visitors with a mix of many activities that they can select from. Throughout the year, Walla Walla hosts many events. Some festivals are connected to Walla Walla’s agricultural roots; others celebrate the natural beauty of the region. So, there are many things to do in Walla Walla;

Here are 10 fun things to do to get you started –

    1. Visit a Winery

With over one hundred twenty wineries, Walla Walla’s vineyards are not to be missed. Each winery offers a unique experience; many of the tasting rooms are family friendly and provide games, food, and entertainment.

    2. Attend a Symphony Performance

Holding the unique honor as the symphony who has the record for continuously performing west of the Mississippi River, a Walla Walla Symphony concert is an event to savor. Symphony members enjoy sharing the wonders of classical music and a symphonic experience with their audiences.

    3. Experience the Theater

Their building, the Gesa Power House Theatre, is an experience in itself. Its design was modeled after London’s Blackfriars Theatre in which Shakespeare’s plays were performed in the 1600s. Now part of the National Register of Historic Places, this fabulous facility provides patrons of the arts films, musical events, theater productions, and more.

    4. Shop in boutiques

Main Street Walla Walla has historic buildings from the 1800s.Housed in some of these gracefully restored buildings are boutiques and shops as unique as their storefronts. Furniture, home décor, clothing, art galleries, and more await the discerning shopper.

    5. Explore the Farmers’ Market

While you’re in downtown Walla Walla, don’t miss out on the Farmers’ Market. On Saturdays from May through October, you’ll be greeted with an array of locally grown produce, freshly baked goods, and crafts created by local artisans.

    6. Take a Hike

With the Blue Mountains, Bennington Lake, and rivers in the area, be sure to get outside in Walla Walla. You can ride your bike, take a hike, go for a swim, or just gaze at the sun in Walla Walla. Home to fifteen different parks, outdoor space and activities are available for all.

    7. Hit the Links

One of Walla Walla’s parks is the location of Veterans Memorial Golf Course. Eighteen challenging holes welcome golfers regardless of your par. Views of the Blue Mountains create a beautiful backdrop for each hole of golf.

    8. Paddle on a Lake

Kayaking, canoeing, or paddleboarding are all options from which water lovers can select. Lakes or rivers are also choices for those who want to float or paddle on different waterways. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own vessel, the area has plenty of outdoor shops that you can rent from.

    9. Sip Some Cider or Spirits

While there aren’t as many cideries or distilleries as there are wineries, those available to you are terrific. Both cider making and distillers in the Walla Walla area infuse locally grown produce into their offerings.

    10. Experience History

Thousands of years of history can be encountered in Walla Walla. Native peoples of the region were the Palouse, Wanapum, and Cayuse. Lewis and Clark as part of their westward expedition encountered Indigenous people. Their stories are told in historic sites in the Walla Walla area.
