All About the Platelet-Rich Preparations That Will Help Improve Healing

It is said that platelet-rich preparations can be very helpful when applied to surgical sites, injuries, or any wounds. This helps quick healing of the soft tissues and the growth of bones. Though there are various methods of preparing them, there are very clinicians who are using platelet-rich plasma and platelet-rich fibre in their practice.

PRP or platelet-rich plasma is a method in which a plasma is prepared by using a whole concentration of platelets from the blood. One essential thing in this method is that both the donor and the patient needs to be the same person. PRP is used for the healing of soft and hard tissues after surgery. It also helps in bone formation and improves the healing of wounds at a faster level.

You can buy these PRP tubes online on the site of Dr RenatAkhmerov’sPlasmolifting Technologies. They have branded tubes that are made in Italy and are used by around 60,000 doctors. They are easy to use and are of good quality. You can check their website for more details on it.

What are the different types of Plasma-rich preparations?

The mainkinds of preparations include separators, one and two spin techniques and platelet-rich fibrin. After the PRP is collected it is further processed through the application biomaterial like the platelet gel (PGEL). The PRF is a preparation where the fibrin clot is prepared by coagulating the blood.

    Cell Separators

Initially, the apheresis method was used by the blood banks and the hospitals to separate the platelets from the other blood components. Once the separation was done, the other components were re-transferred into that patient again. However, there are some more methods that have come up that can make use of less blood and lower the need for re-transfusion.

    Classic Platelet Rich Plasma

This method uses automated instruments or some manual kits. Mostly these procedures consist of 2 spins. One was to collect the plasma and the platelet while the other was to concentrate the platelets in a smaller volume of plasma. After both the spins, we get a rosy colour plasma as there are some RBCs present in it.

    Preparation rich in Growth Factors

This method also called plasma rich in growth factors consists more of platelets. In this method, 5 to 40 ml of uncoagulated blood is used. This is centrifuged at a low speed. You will find the bottom 0.5 to 1 ml as the plasma fraction while the above not including the buffy coat is the PGRF. As there is a low speed here and the absence of buffy coats, this PGRF is leukocyte poor. Also, you will see a lower platelet yield as compared to other methods.

    Platelet-rich fibrin matrix

This is made by using the Platelet system and Fibronet Autologous Fibrin. In this method, uncoagulated blood is used and a thixotropic separator is used to isolate the platelets and plasma from the other blood components. In the first spin, the platelets and the plasma which is resting on the gel separator is then poured into another tube. This tube is then spun to prepare the fibrin matrix. This is a stronger method where the fibrinogen in the plasma during the clotting step results in matrix formation.
