If you have an olive skin tone, shading your hair can truly be amazing-after all you are getting an entirely new appearance. Whether you want to go for a light ombre or more bold hues like blue and pink(this needs bold and daring ladies) things can get crazy and tricky if this is the first time you are doing it.

Usually, virgin locks require a lot of maintenance if you decide to colour it. Here we have highlighted five main things you should remember before you start your journey of transforming your hair colour. Learn more here on how to choose the right hair colour for olive skin.

    1. Select Your Hair Colour Wisely.

Well, you have decided that you want to colour your manes, but you are yet to settle on one particular colour to use. It is recommended that you choose darker colours rather than bright or light colours. When you choose dark hues, you end up depositing shade rather than stripping it. Going brighter, however, is much harsher and you need strong chemicals.

If this is your first time you are shading your hair to complement your olive skin tone, we recommend you use blonde highlights. That looks great on you. You can also opt for caramel highlights. It gives similar results as blonde highlights.

    1. Refrain From Washing Your Hair Before Colouring It.

Don’t be bothered by your dirty hair when you are heading to the salon. It is fine, and that doesn’t judge you. The reason why you shouldn’t wash it before colouring it is that, if you wash it, the shampoo residue may react with your hair colour. This can give you a burning sensation on your scalp.

    1. Treat Your Hair After Colouring It If Your Hair Stylist Advise So

If your hairstylist advises you that you go for hair treatment immediately after the process of colouring your hair, don’t throw that ideal through the window and ignore it. They are not trying to milk you some more bucks. Remember, after all, your hairstylist is an expert, and she will always give you what is best. Besides, they know what is good for you. A treatment will protect your hair from damage, and aids in the restoration of its nourishment.

    1. Never Condition Your Hair Immediately You Colour It.

Wait for some weeks after colouring your hair before conditioning it. This is however if you hadn’t bleached your hair. It is recommended you condition it at least weekly after colouring it. This ensures the hair colour remains fresh. For women with olive skin tone, this keeps you looking ever lively.

    1. Use Colour-Protective Hair Products.

You may want to switch to colour protective conditioners and shampoos for a gentler look. These products are rich with fatty acids that maintain your hair colour.
